Easter Sunday 2012

Have you noticed I tend to write in this blog every holiday? I guess it has to do with the fact holidays are a time of remembrance. Who knows.

Another Life Lesson from God

It's interesting how I have finally come to a point in my life where I realize there is much more to life than just "things" and "stuff". Maybe becasue for so long I haven't had much of anything, and i won't even claim it isn't my fault, but I have realized other things are more important.

It's a different world out there

This week has brought with it the birth of my fourth grandchild. While joyful I am also somewhat sad about it as well. As those of you who have read this blog you know I miss my parents and I wish they could be here to see their great-grandchildren. I also worry about the world we are leaving for them.

Be thankful for what you have

The other day as I sat behind the dirty windshield I happened to go by the "Occupy Worcester" bunch. Now this group is fairly small and have been tucked away into a corner of a park on the outskirts of the city, so I couldn't get a good look at them. But I have seen pictures and the like of some of the participants in the other groups. No, this is one of those political rants, that is in my other blog It's Clear As Mud instead it's about...

Sunday Sermon Oct 9 2011

There was a death in the family this week, and whenever someone close to us passes away we tend to feel a variety of emotions. Sadness. Pain. Loss. A feeling of "I wish I had said Good-bye". Most of us tend to have sorrowful thoughts while we deal with out grief. While it is okay for us to grieve and have such thoughts, we should also be happy.

Sunday Sermon #1

And now it is time for our Sunday night sermon, straight from the I'm Just Musing ministry at the little house on the lake. Today's sermon is entitled.... Okay I'm just kidding, I don't have a sermon or a ministry however, feel free to send donations anyway and I can make one.

Be thankful for what you have

Why does it seem that so many people, not all,, but many, seem to always want more than they have? Why can't we be satisfied with what we have? And why have we turned into "Me first" people?

Questions needing answers: Heaven and hell or not

In my quest for knowledge about myself and my beliefs, I have struggled to answer the question “Is there a God?” Remember I have no theological or philosophical background; therefore the only basis for my beliefs, prior to this quest was what I thought, without any other knowledge. Yes, I knew what the Bible says, but there is the question of whether the Bible is fact or fiction, another question to answer, and of course the big question, is there a heaven and a hell. This led me to even further questions, one of these questions which relates to some of my political writings on the First Amendment of the United States Constitution.

I’ve been thinking about atheism and atheists lately, trying to understand them, both the people who believe in atheism as well as the concept of it.  The conclusion I have reached is that there is no conclusion. Why? Because people will believe what they want, and no matter what you do to convince someone of your beliefs, they will always come up with a counter argument.

A hot summer's nights musings

Have you ever heard the expression, "There is a hell and I am living in it"? I heard that the other day although I have heard it before, and I started thinking about it. Is it possible that we do live in hell, maybe not our whole lives but for a determined amount of time, maybe as our penance for our sins?

Who is right

Throughout my life during those few times where I actually gave thought to whether or not there was a God or not, one of the questions which would always arise was “Who is right?” Maybe a better question would be “Who’s God is right?” or even “If there is a God, how can He…(fill in the blank)” For example, the receiver who makes the game winning catch for a touchdown will more than likely say “God was with me today” so does that mean He was against someone else? How does He decide who side to be on?

Spring Cleaning of the Mind

Things have been "springing" up here at the little house on the lake. The ice is gone, the peepers are peeping (the ones that live in the swampy area in the back not the neighbors who look in the windows) and it is almost getting warm outside. I love spring when everything seems to get new again, including the view from behind the dirty windshield.

Another fork in the road of life

I don't remember if it was in the old AOL "Dirty Windshield" or after I switched to Blogger (I suppose I could look but I don't want to), I wrote about making decisions in life and how sometimes we take a right when we should of gone left. The problem is we don't know which is the right path to take at the time, we just do what we think is right. I have reached another fork in the road of life and will need to decide tomorrow which way I will go.

Things to think about

It's snowing here at the little house on the lake, the 1 to 3 inches has turned into 2 to 4, but then I don't think they have hit one right yet. Every year as I get older, winters get longer and longer. At least I don't have to work today, but will be going to my granddaughter's birthday party, if the little red pick up can make the hill.
