For example, I have often talked about the Lady in the Box. She is still there and hasn’t changed at all except now you don’t need a box, you only need a phone. I actually have three separate map programs on my phone. I have two for cars and one for trucks. They are all free which is good, maybe.
I have done two separate trips in the last two weeks and have already made a decision to not use one of them. That would be Google Maps. Both times the Google lady has steered me wrong. The first time she put me in the middle of a cornfield in Pennsylvania. Now don't get me wrong, I have nothing against cornfields or Pennsylvania, but not when I need to be somewhere at a certain time. Then to make things worse, I had no cell service so my map wouldn't update. I finally found it using the old school method. Hell no, I didn't ask for directions, I am a man after all. No, I drove to the center of town and followed the first truck I figured was going where I needed to be. Works every time.
The second trip was to Bridgeport, CT. In the interest of fairness, I decided to give the Google lady another chance, Once again, she failed. This time she directed me to one of the better neighborhoods in Bridgeport, well that's a relative term. We'll just leave it at it didn't take me to where I was going, either the first time or the second when it put me at the Bridgeport Recycling Center. It was then I decided it was time to change the voices from the phone. On my next trip I will try the iPhone map app.
But I must say I hadn't realized how much I missed being behind the dirty windshield. Let's see how long it will last.
